This weekend, the Auburn Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated spent the day connecting, learning, sharing, and preparing for the sororal year ahead.

Inspired by Waiting to Exhale, we dressed in shades of brown as we prepared to Advance. 🤎

Our 2026 ADVANCE focused on strengthening our chapter, developing leadership, and exploring new ways to serve, innovate, and move forward with purpose.

We laughed, we learned, and we connected! ❤️

Now, it’s time to put what we gained into action throughout the year ahead.

Today we honor the legacy of the last enslaved African Americans in Texas who were finally informed of their freedom, some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. It was those people, and the generations of Texans who came after them, who made the bold declaration to celebrate this day, marking a reality we know far too well in this country: freedom may be delayed, but it will never be denied.

Though our fight for freedom sadly continues, today we pause to celebrate and embrace the joy of our ancestors who believed in the possibilities of a more promising tomorrow. And in that joy, we remain anchored, steadfast in our pursuit of true freedom and justice for all.
