A recent Gallup and Lumina Foundation survey found that college graduates, more than anything else, wish they had received more career coaching and mentoring.
That's exactly why both are embedded into our BAS Software Development program here at Green River College. Career support is a big part of the student experience from the beginning, not just a rescue service at the end.
In partnership with Mentors in Tech (MinT), all of our BAS students have the opportunity to pair with tech industry mentors for structured coaching and mentoring throughout their degree program, from day 1 through graduation.
For community college baccalaureate students navigating a competitive, AI-driven job market, the guidance and perspective mentors provide can make all the difference.
We're incredibly proud to offer MinT support at no extra cost to our students, and grateful for the mentors, faculty, alumni, and program partners helping make it happen.

BIG thank you to Green River College Software BAS alumni Garrett B., Everett H., Ethan D., and Brenden H., now at Sinclair Digital, for visiting our senior capstone class today. Really neat to hear former students offer career advice and reflect thoughtfully on their work and paths in tech.

What College Students Should Know About Taxes
If you worked, received scholarships, or had a part-time job this year, tax season may apply to you. Here are a few basics every college student should know:
1️⃣ You may need to file a tax return
Even if you’re a student, income from jobs, internships, or freelance work may require you to file taxes.
2️⃣ Education tax credits could save you money
Students may qualify for credits like the American Opportunity Credit or Lifetime Learning Credit, which can reduce how much you owe.
3️⃣ Keep track of important forms
You may receive forms like:
• W-2 from employers
• 1098-T from your college (shows tuition payments)
These forms help you accurately file your taxes.
4️⃣ Free help is available
Many students qualify for free tax filing resources through the IRS.
Learn more about taxes for students here:

Understanding the basics now can help you avoid stress later—and maybe even get a refund. 📄💸
