That laptop wasn't just a computer—it was my voice. It was my only means of participating remotely in a public meeting.

As I was speaking during public comment, an audience member became upset, walked over, and physically closed the laptop, interrupting my participation. The Commission later acknowledged on the record that there had been "an incident" and that part of my comments had been missed.

Regardless of who anyone believed was operating the laptop, no member of the public has the right to interfere with another person's participation in a public meeting.

Remote participation is still participation. Closing the device someone is actively speaking through is no different than attempting to silence them.

This happened while I was speaking about disability access, autistic children, wheelchair users, and ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to participate in government.

Public meetings should be places where people can express their views without fear of being physically interrupted by someone who disagrees with them. I hope this incident is taken seriously and that steps are put in place to ensure it never happens again.

What's a "Blue Room"? Mother describes inhumane conditions and treatment of her young autistic child. Over 250 times between the ages of 5 and 7, her child had been forced into a seclusion room, not allowed to leave to go to the bathroom, and would be left covered in his own f***s while he would cry. This is the reality of "time out" and seclusion practices throughout our country. Parents need to be paying attention, asking questions, and demanding change.

Worcester Public Schools E-mail System Compromised! Please help spread awareness.

This morning I got a concerning phone call about a suspicious email being sent from Worcester public schools special education director Tammy Murray. I immediately called the special education department and spoke to a woman named Jean who indicated that it was a Spam message that had been sent out to multiple families. I asked if the public had been notified yet and she had said no she had only spoken to the IT department. Clicking on the link asks for multiple layers of personal information if you have received this do not open it. UPDATE: East Bridgewater Public Schools - Student Data/IEP Leak

At 9:10pm last night, I received an email from the Senior Associate Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education indicating that he has been assigned as the "Independent" investigator to look into alleged failure by DESE to uphold IDEA and Massachussetts law regarding my Problem Resolution Complaint that was prematurely closed regarding the leak. This also comes after the same allegations against DESE were submitted (by me) to OSEP and MSIP (federal oversight of DESE).
How can an individual who represents the same agency be truly independent?
