My name is Ramata Sissoko Cisse, a professor of Biology at Georgia Gwinnett College in Georgia, USA. My primary responsibility as a professor is to innovate and to promote education. And here, I have it. I created this page to share two things: Love and Knowledge.
Don’t you just hate boring professors? Honestly! Standing in front of the class, and talking for hours about a hormone that you can see or touch! Ok, I hate that to. That is why I teach differently. My teaching style has to represent my personality. Yes, I love teaching with fun and enthusiasm. I love life and I love me, so I teach you to love life and to love you. Don’t you just love to love yourself? I do.
I started to teach when I was 12, by necessity in the city of Gao in Mali, West Africa, when I was compelled to help neighborhood kids with their homework. Before I was given a blackboard to make my teaching more professional at the age of 15, I used anything around me. That is why my teaching method today includes everyday items and situations that students can relate to.
I knew early on, that teaching has to be fun, creative, extemporizing and innovative. No matter how your attention span was as a child, I was able to stretch it. Yes, you will listen. I literally open your brain and force the knowledge into it. Ok, this is my neuroscience side of me.
Biology (speaking of life) is the study of living things, and you are the first living thing you know. If you learn about yourself, it will make you discover things about you that even, you did not know you have. So, here, I share my knowledge in biological sciences.
If the world is a mess it is not because of trees or animals, but because of us, humans, based on what we do to it and how we approach problems. It is clear that the contemporary approach in solving global issues would inevitably require the input from many disciplines, especially Biology. Having a strong biological knowledge for each of us, is a good foundation to understanding these emerging issues. Thus, I am passionate about teaching Biology to you in an innovative way. I believe that learning should be flexible, exciting and fun.
Indeed, teaching the world grow intellectually and emotionally but most importantly socially in a team setting has been my longtime dream. My teaching style is ingrained in my enthusiastic nature to deliver with passion and clarity thus motivating everyone to look forward to the next presentation with more questions than answers. I hope to accomplish that here on this page.
I have the firm belief that although millennium students have short attention spans, they can thrive if given the opportunity to use the latest technology as a learning tool. I have been continuously exploring new virtual learning methods to promote the use of electronic devices as assets and not as a distraction. I believe this page gives me that chance. I teach values such as mutual love, respect and tolerance across cultures and backgrounds.
My teaching philosophy therefore consists of motivating students to love learning biology and use it to solve contemporary issues. My goal is to make you go beyond Biology, and to foresee the real implication and application of that knowledge.
Thank you for liking this page and to recommend it to the world!
