Yoga is thousands and thousands of years old. The first yogic texts had nothing to do with the physical body. Westerners were largely unfamiliar with yoga until the 1960’s, then it became more popular a mode of physical fitness.
Like many things, yoga is multidimensional and complex…and doesn’t rely on your fitness or flexibility. All it requires is your presence.
I am honored to teach yoga to anyone who is interested in stilling their mind, detaching themselves from the demands of the outside world, and working to connect their body, mind and spirit.

This is Paula, my mother-in-law turned avid yoga student. You may know her around town for her wonderful laugh or, quite possibly, she was your second grade teacher.
2 months ago, we started our yoga sessions seated in a chair - she has been recovering from a knee replacement surgery and has severe arthritis, and she was very nervous about falling.
After a few sessions, she progressed from a chair to a ball and then to floor postures, and she is gaining strength and flexibility every week. I’m so proud of her work and determination.

Meet Ginny and Charlie Stewart, two students I have the pleasure of teaching twice a week. Ginny and Charlie came to yoga fresh, curious and wanting to increase their vitality.
I have witnessed them gain strength and flexibility and stay dedicated to their work, even continuing their practice at home. I am lucky to begin each week guiding them and laughing alongside them. ✨

has taken the time and energy to graciously explain this. She shouldn’t have to.

I took this pic 4 years ago on a sweaty day in July in downtown Atlanta. What will change after this week? Month? Year? That is up to us. In 4 more years are we going to be holding the same damn signs? If you want to answer “no,” then do something. There are a million things to do. You don’t have to take to the streets. But you do have to keep the fire in your heart and share it any way you are able. Educate yourselves. Help a stranger. Smile and wave when you see someone different than you walking down the street. Strike up a conversation outside your bubble. Speak out when something is wrong. Step up. Stop making it all about you. Read and think critically before engaging in dialogue. Provide resources. Make space. Vote.
