Your competitor quit after the second message.
This is what the 5th one looked like.

The majority of business goes to the person who followed up more times than everyone else was willing to.

Not the best. Not the cheapest.
The most persistent β€” provided the persistence is USEFUL, not annoying.

The 6-touch follow-up cadence that works:
πŸ“ Day 0 β€” Deliver what you promised. Reference the specific conversation.
πŸ“ Day 3 β€” Add value. Resource. Article. No ask.
πŸ“ Day 8 β€” A specific question about

"The signature is not the finish line. It's the moment your real marketing begins."
A trainer delivered a workshop. Great evaluations. She invoiced, said thank you, and moved on.

Another trainer delivered a comparable workshop the same month. Two weeks later, she sent the leader an unbilled summary of themes she observed β€” with one specific recommendation. That conversation became a 6-month follow-up engagement. Which became 2 executive coaching clients. 1 of whom moved to a LARGER organization

I am so grateful to my mentor, Dr. John Maxwell, as I continue to serve as one of his Cultural Award Winners out of over 63,000 Maxwell Leadership Coaches, Trainers, and Speakers globally. As a true leader, he has taught me to guide with vision, lead with heart, and inspire with action β€” because great teams are built when everyone embraces their role and excels in it.

Real talk Thursday πŸ‘‡

How many meaningful prospecting activities did you do THIS WEEK?

πŸ”΄ 0 β€” It was a delivery week and I didn't prospect at all
🟑 1–5 β€” I made some effort but it wasn't consistent
🟒 6–10 β€” I showed up consistently
πŸ”΅ 10+ β€” I'm actively building the pipeline every day

No judgment β€” I've been at every one of these levels.

But I will tell you this: the leaders who win aren't doing something you CAN'T do. They're doing something you haven't done for long enough.

Hope is not a pipeline stage. Neither is 'they seemed really interested.'

An adjective is not a pipeline. 'Good,' 'slow,' 'promising' β€” those are how practices die quietly.

Because an adjective can't tell you whether you'll have income in March.

The 5 Pipeline Stages every solo practice needs:

Stage 1️⃣ Contact β€” they know you exist, two-way interaction
Stage 2️⃣ Conversation β€” discovery call completed
Stage 3️⃣ Proposal β€” written recommendation delivered in their language
Stage 4️⃣ Decision

The moment you lead with your credentials β€” you've already lost the room.

People don't want to be marketed to.
They want to be understood.

When someone senses you're more interested in their BUDGET than their SITUATION β€” they disengage. Politely. Permanently. Usually without telling you why.

The fix? Make every touchpoint deliver something of value on its own terms.

πŸ’Ύ SAVE THIS. You'll use it on your next discovery call.

I've refined these 17 questions over 30+ years of executive coaching and organizational work.

They move in a deliberate arc:
Situation β†’ Consequence β†’ History β†’ Vision β†’ Decision

The one question that deserves its own paragraph:

'What would have to be true for you to move forward on this?'

This single question surfaces EVERY hidden objection β€” budget, authority, timing, trust β€” without confrontation. And it invites the prospect to des

An executive coach I know lost 3 consecutive proposals to the same competitor.

Her methodology was stronger. Her credentials were better. Her pricing was comparable.

When we reviewed her discovery calls β€” she was describing her framework by minute 4.

We changed ONE thing: she wasn't allowed to mention her methodology until the prospect ASKED.

Her next call: 52 minutes. She talked maybe 15. At minute 41, the prospect said: 'So what would you actually do about this?'

That question β€” asked by

If your pipeline is dry, it's probably one of these 5 things.

Most practices don't fail from a lack of leads.
They fail from LEAKS in the bucket nobody bothered to look for.

The 5 Fatal Leaks:
πŸ”΄ Leak 1: Running a single channel β€” one disruption = crisis
🟑 Leak 2: Pitching instead of serving β€” you lose them silently
🟒 Leak 3: Failing to follow up within 72 hours β€” momentum dies
πŸ”΅ Leak 4: Not trying at all β€” fear dressed as 'not the right time'
⚫ Leak 5: Chasing everyone β€” hustle that's actu

"Reach is not relationship."

A coach I know has 11,000 followers, posts daily, and can't remember the last time a post produced a client.

Another coach has under 600 people on her list β€” and 70% of her new business arrives INBOUND.

The difference? She spent 15 minutes every day commenting THOUGHTFULLY on the posts of 20 specific decision-makers in her market.

Not 'Great post!' β€” actual contributions that added something.

After 14 months, she wasn't a stranger. She was the person who consist
