Snow Day Fun and Learning! ❄️

It’s snowing outside today, and that means it’s the perfect opportunity for some winter-themed learning and play with the kids! Here are a few fun ways children can explore, create, and learn in the snow:
1. Science in Action
• Talk about how snow forms and what makes it different from rain or ice.
• Experiment with snow by bringing a small amount inside to watch it melt. Discuss the process of melting and freezing!
2. Math in the Snow
• Count snowflakes (or estimate!) falling in a given time.
• Measure the snow’s depth and compare different spots.
3. Creative Arts
• Let kids create snow sculptures or snow angels.
• Try “snow painting” by adding food coloring to water in a spray bottle!
4. Physical Activity
• Build a snowman to work on teamwork and motor skills.
• Have a safe snowball toss, aiming for targets to practice coordination.
5. Exploration and Observation
• Look for animal tracks in the snow and discuss how animals adapt to winter.
• Notice how the snow affects the world around you—sounds, light, and temperature.

While playing, remind children to bundle up and stay warm! Learning doesn’t have to stop just because of the weather—nature is the best classroom.
