🔥 ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT: LAURYN SHAW | SMALL BUT MIGHTY 🦁🔥

Introducing Lauryn Shaw, a true definition of grit, heart, and hustle! She may be small in size, but she came into Hurricane Elite with the spirit of a lion — bold, fearless, and ready to take off!

Lauryn joined Hurricane Elite in 2023 after hearing about the team from her middle school coach — a coach who also happened to work alongside Coach Bre. From the very beginning, Lauryn showed up with a fire in her eyes and the drive of a seasoned athlete. As just a 6th grader, she didn’t just show up — she took Hurricane Elite by STORM! ⚡️🌪️

🥇 NATIONAL JUNIOR OLYMPIAN…TWICE!

In her debut year with Hurricane Elite, Lauryn earned a spot at the National Junior Olympics in the 1600M — an incredible accomplishment at her age! Then she did it again the very next year as a 7th grader, proving it was no fluke — this girl is the real deal! 🏃🏾‍♀️🔥🇺🇸

Now, in 8th grade at CMS, Lauryn continues to make major waves! She’s been dominating middle school meets and setting her eyes on a brand new challenge…

⚡️ THE TRANSITION: From Distance Queen to 400M Sprinter

This season, Lauryn and her mom, Kendra, let Coach Bre in on a new goal — transitioning from the 1600M and 800M to the 400M. And like always, Coach Bre pulled up in full support — ready to watch her rise.

At the CMS Invitational, Coach Bre encouraged Lauryn to go after it and reminded her:
“You CAN do this… but it’s going to take WORK.”

And Lauryn delivered.

That very day, she ran her fastest 400M ever — 1:05.73. Since then, she’s only gotten faster! Her latest SB/PR? 1:05.25 and still dropping. 💨💪🏾🔥

💫 RECORD HOLDER STATUS: CMS LEGEND IN THE MAKING

Let’s talk about Lauryn’s current CMS dominance:
• 400M PR/SB: 1:05.25 🕒🔥
• 800M PR/SB: 2:42.85 🧭
• CMS RECORD HOLDER in:
• 800M
• 1600M
• 4x800 Relay (2023)
• 4x400 Relay (2023)
And guess what? She set TWO of those records as a 6th grader!!

She’s been leading from the front since day one, and now she’s setting her sights on a fierce summer season. 🌞💥

Lauryn Shaw is the definition of toughness, tenacity, and trust in the process. She fights hard, trains harder, and always brings her best. Whether she’s sprinting, grinding through intervals, or breaking tape — Lauryn does it with HEART. 🖤🦁💯

As she continues to grow and prepare to storm through high school, there’s no doubt she’s going to be a future star for Monroe Area.
