Gorn Baby Gorn: The Gorn in Star Trek - From Laughable to Chilling 08/27/2023

You've come a long way, baby. From humble beginnings, the Gorn are a terrifying threat in Strange New Worlds ... but how does the science stack up? We brought in Dr. Mohamed Noor to help explain how the Gorn aren't all that sci-fi... even the egg-spraying stuff. Star Trek

Gorn Baby Gorn: The Gorn in Star Trek - From Laughable to Chilling We look at the science of Star Trek's Gorn and compare them to what we have on Earth. They're not quite as sci-fi as you may think.

Judge Rules in Favor of Montana Youths in Landmark Climate Case 08/14/2023

This is pretty awesome. Certainly will be appealed by Mr. Montgomery Burns and the like, but for now - it’s a sign for good things.

Judge Rules in Favor of Montana Youths in Landmark Climate Case The court found that young people have a constitutional right to a healthful environment and that regulators must be allowed to consider climate impact.

Here we go - my (Matt) Donors Choose is live (link in comments), and ready to rock. This is what I'm looking for - 35 of these kits for my Honors Physics students. Y'all have been so kind and generous over the years with my projects, and I hope you can help out again.

The AWESOME thing is that tomorrow - August 2nd, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is paying 50% of all projects on Donors Choose!

Single Panel Science Lesson: Luthor's Not Lying, But... – The Science Of 07/28/2023

Superman uses some pretty fancy science to figure out whether or not Lex Luthor is lying to him about dying, but there may be a problem with those tools if you've got a pathological liar like Lex. Let's get into the science of lying! SSuperman and Lois CW FansDDC

Single Panel Science Lesson: Luthor's Not Lying, But... – The Science Of In The Last Days of Lex Luthor, Superman uses his powers to tell that Luthor's not lying. Let's talk about the science of lying!

In the late '60s and through the mid-70s, Presto produced the Hot Dogger as a clever way to cook six hot dogs in about a minute. The idea was simple - stab the hot dogs on either prong, plug it into a 110/120v outlet, and let the current run through the circuit (with the hot dog acting as the load/resistor.

The hot dogs would often split along their sides, and it was known for making the hot dogs "sing" as the steam exited the hot dogs while they cooked.

It wasn't quite as dangerous as it looked - the lid HAS to be closed to operate - the electric connectors are near the handle.

Is there a better way to teach circuits and resistance to hungry high school physics students? I just bought two.

Kraven, a Crossbow, and the Conservation of Momentum – The Science Of 07/25/2023

It's been a minute since the trailer for Kraven came out, and while it's loaded with craziness, there was this certain moment with some momentum that caught our eye...

Kraven, a Crossbow, and the Conservation of Momentum – The Science Of In the trailer, Kraven fires a crossbow that throws a man back into a wall. Wild effect? Yes! Can it be supported by physics? Well...
