You could hear a pin drop at MSG's Yom Ha-atzmaut Chidon. The audience was silent and waited with bated breath as their class representatives answered question after question about the State of Israel. The representatives were chosen based on how they scored on a preliminary test that had been administered a few weeks back. In the lead-up to the chidon, the girls studied hard and were able to answer almost any question thrown at them! From peace treaties, to olympic gold medalists and astronauts, our students rattled off dates, events, and names with practiced ease. The rest of the students were incredibly proud of their classmates and listened respectfully as they answered the questions. Later in the day, the Middle School Boys celebrated Israel with a rousing field day, with games of "Kadur-Sal (soccer)" and an IDF style boot camp and obstacle course! Kol-Hakavod to all our class representatives for all the work they put in for the Chidon and an especial thanks to our incomparable ivrit team, Morah Beatrice Maimon and Mrs. Helen Altman, for helping our students prepare, and organizing and running the chidon! Also, thank you to our amazing Shinshinim, Inbar and Andy for all your assistance! https://edl.io/n2191248

In honor of Yom Ha'atzmaut, our middle school girls arranged an amazing Israel-themed carnival for the younger students. The students were able to take a tour around the State of Israel without leaving the TDSA Gym! From making sand art in "Eilat," enjoying traditional treats like lemonana and shoko be'sakit, to visiting the "Kosel" and leaving a note, the students celebrated the rich history and vibrancy of the State of Israel on the occasion of Israel's 78th birthday! TDSA would like to extend a massive Thank You to our amazing Ivrit Teachers, Morah Beatrice Maimon and Morah Helen Altman and our Shinshinim, Inbar and Andy for all the work they did arranging and organizing this amazing carnival!https://edl.io/n2191243

Our very own Final Four took place last night. Mishna Madness culminated with a playoff event at the Atlanta Scholars Kollel and the energy in the air was palpable. All of TDSA's Middle School Boys worked incredibly hard and learned an absolutely astronomical 65,076 Mishnayos altogether! With good food and a lot of good cheer; parents, peers, and community members came to support our final four contestants. The finalists were tested on their knowledge of Mishnayos by Rabbi Pransky, Rosh Kollel, and wowed everyone with their knowledge and understanding. More than anything, what stood out was the camaraderie among the boys as they encouraged each other and spurred each other on to greater heights of learning, and their enthusiasm and love of Torah! https://edl.io/n2182437

Hurry! Hurry! Hurry! We only have 18 minutes to turn the dough into Matzah! Do you think we can make it?

This week, TDSA's gym lobby was transformed into a real matzah factory. With the timer running down the minutes, the students rolled, and poked holes in freshly made matzah dough and rushed it to Rabbi Rubin who was manning the real matzah oven! Some of the classes made it in under 18 minutes and some didn't but everyone had fun, making (and eating) their own matzah! https://edl.io/n2181437

On Tuesday night, TDSA's students were able to display months of hard work at The Sixth Grade Science Fair! With the help of our incomparable science teacher, Mrs. Castle and our enrichment director, Mrs. Bendicoff, the students generated their own scientific questions, conducted research, compiled and interpreted data and arranged their findings into colorful and fascinating displays. Along the way, they honed critical project planning and organizational skills that will benefit them for the rest of their academic careers. The students wowed TDSA's staff, their parents and the science fair judges with hands-on demonstrations of their topics, expertly built models, and fascinating questions. We would like to extend a special thank you to our amazing judges: Dr. Doron Lubinsky, Dr. Heather Pearlman, Mr. Avram Rosenfeld, Mrs. Chelsea Rosenstein and Dr. Barry Zisholtz, who gave of their time to evaluate all of our science fair entries. A big congratulations to our winners and all our sixth graders. You really exceeded all expectations! We hope this is just the beginning of a lifelong love of scientific exploration and curiosity. https://edl.io/n2179483

To supplement the third grade's nonfiction reports on natural disasters, Mrs. Pelishev has had the students exploring engineering and science challenges related to various weather conditions. The third grade boys simulated the weather conditions that create massive storms by making a hurricane in a bottle. Meanwhile the third grade girls were challenged to construct a house capable of withstanding the high wind-speeds usually associated with natural disasters and even tested to see if their houses could stand up the high winds they created using their own fans. https://edl.io/n2179156

Last week our fourth grade boys had an out-of-this-world experience. They were visited by the Star Lab from the Chattahoochee Nature Center. After a fascinating outdoor presentation about our planet and solar system the boys were treated to a trip through the stars! The Star Lab set up a mobile planetarium and the boys were able to see the solar system up close! It felt like touching the night sky in the middle of the day and something our students won't soon forget! https://edl.io/n2176060

On Thursday our second grade boys demonstrated their Chumash skills for their proud parents, Rabbeim, grandparents and siblings. The boys answered question after question about Chumash, Dikduk, and showed off their impressive Hebrew translation skills. The boys then each received their own beautifully decorated Chumash. The boys (and their families) were beaming with pride at their accomplishment! May they use this as a springboard to more Torah learning and a deeper connection with Hashem! https://edl.io/n2171985

Torah Day School of Atlanta really "caught" onto the spirit of fun at this year's Purim Parade. The school float, decorated with banners, balloons and pennants and filled with smiling students waving TDSA flags showed how TDSA spreads the spirit of Torah wherever we go! After the parade, the Atlanta community enjoyed a fantastic carnival organized by the amazing staff at Congregation Beth Jacob! All around the carnival you could see TDSA staff, parents, students and their siblings having an amazing time! What a fun afternoon and we can't wait for more Purim fun to come! https://edl.io/n2169918
