The Roswell Police Department today announced a series of arrests tied to an extensive human trafficking network operating within multiple metro Atlanta massage parlors.
In May of 2022, Roswell City Council passed an amended city ordinance aimed at strengthening regulation and enforcement measures for massage parlors and spas. The Roswell Police Department’s Special Investigations Section (SIS) took on a leading role in enforcing the updated ordinance, conducting numerous undercover operations within local spas to ensure compliance.
During this process, keen-eyed detectives began to increasingly notice connections between several spa locations engaging in criminal activity, and their associated leadership. As detectives continued to investigate these connections, they uncovered an extensive human trafficking and prostitution network spanning at least six spa locations thus far.
The investigation culminated in a coordinated enforcement operation the morning of September 20th. With the assistance of more than 70 officers and investigators, the Roswell Police Department simultaneously served search and arrest warrants at 10 different locations in Roswell, Johns Creek, Sandy Springs, and Atlanta. These locations encompassed a number of different spa facilities and residences used to support and facilitate human trafficking. As a result, three principal figures within this trafficking network were arrested, with additional arrests expected as the investigation continues.
“This operation, one of the largest of its kind in the region, marks a significant milestone in our ongoing effort to combat human trafficking at the organizational level”, said Chief of Police James Conroy. “The Roswell Police Department will continue to vigorously pursue those who exploit and victimize others in our community and beyond.”
Roswell Mayor Kurt Wilson said, "This investigation is a crucial step towards our goal of eliminating illicit activities within massage parlors and spas, halting human trafficking, and making Roswell the number one family community in America. I commend the Roswell Police Department for their tireless efforts to root out this criminal activity from our community.
Under the leadership of our City Administrator Randy Knighton, our Chief Operating Officer Richard Rhinehart and our Police Chief James Conroy, the actions we’re witnessing are the result of over a year of hard work and coordinated activity to be commended at the highest level. Roswell Police continue to demonstrate why they are one of the finest Forces in America.”
During the course of the operation, the following spas were served with search warrants:
Alpha Massage, 11235 Alpharetta Hwy, Ste. 133, Roswell, GA
Ease Massage, 1085 Holcomb Bridge Rd, Ste. 140, Roswell, GA
Enjoy Massage, 1580 Holcomb Bridge Rd, Ste. 21A, Roswell, GA
Iris Massage, 880 Holcomb Bridge Rd, Ste. B-105, Roswell, GA
Barefoot Massage, 5920 Roswell Rd, Ste. A-113, Sandy Springs, GA
Rose Massage, 2409 Piedmont Rd. NE, Ste. B, Atlanta, GA
As a result, the following individuals were arrested and charged with racketeering, s*x trafficking, and labor trafficking:
Wei Cheng Huang, age 56, of Johns Creek.
Yan Lin, age 41, of Johns Creek.
Lin Chen, age 36, of Rome.
In addition to these arrests, multiple trafficking victims associated with the spas were immediately linked with vital support and resources for their stability and care. Victim advocates from the Fulton County District Attorney's Office, as well as local anti-trafficking organization “Out of Darkness” were present throughout the operation and played an integral role alongside investigators. The Roswell Police Department is indebted to our partners at the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for their collaboration, as well as the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety and Sandy Springs Police Department who also provided officers to assist.
This investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges and arrests are anticipated. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Fields at [email protected], or 770-640-4455. Anonymous information be provided through Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477 or online at www.StopCrimeATL.org.
