There are way better surveillance systems than what Sam's, CostCo and BestBuy sells - for not much more money. Poor quality and high quality costs the same to install.

So why would you consider installing IP cameras instead of CCTV?
1) Substantially better image quality.
2) The cameras are programmable and are more powerful.
3) The price is coming down close to being the same as CCTV.
4) These are effectively small computers on a network in your home or business.
5) Better wireless functionality.

If anyone is looking for a great quality barn video system this is a good choice. FLIR makes excellent systems with very clear picture quality. If you have the choice, leave CCTV behind and go with IP which is close to TV quality.
