Thank you to everyone who came out to tonight's 2019 Dance Academy Awards and National Honor Society of Dance Arts induction!
Certificates and trophies were given out, and we inducted 8 dance students into our new honors chapter!
We are proud of all of our dance students for their work this school year!

About the Dance Department of the Academy for Performing and Visual Arts at Heritage High School
The Dance Department of the Academy for Performing and Visual Arts at Heritage High School offers a rigorous high school dance education. The Dance program at Heritage provides students with the opportunity to acquire a comprehensive knowledge of dance as a fine art. Students learn and refine dance skills and techniques in class and in performance, study the historical and cultural significance of dance and its evolution as an art form, and evaluate personal work and the work of others.
Academy dance students have opportunities to perform in two to four major dance concerts, as well as other small performance opportunities throughout the school year. Students also receive the chance to go on field trips and experience performances by professional caliber dance companies, such as the Atlanta Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, the Georgia Ballet, and many others.
The dance department of the Academy for Performing and Visual Arts at Heritage High School is geared to not only prepare the students in the technical aspects of dance, but also to become more creative and intellectually engaged students, committed to the enrichment of society.

All dance courses are designed to align with the Georgia Standards of Excellence for Dance, as well as the National Core Arts Standards for Dance.
