Friday Family Fun!
Today is Earth Day, and it's a great day to go on a Nature Scavenger Hunt!
Just spending that extra time with your child helps build their sense of security with you and gives them time to talk and feel heard.
On a walk like this, it's easy to talk about safety, things that scare you (spiders? snakes? eww) and how to be safe if ever walking outside by yourself.

Friday Family Fun!!!
The Paper Towel Magic Color Experiment is a great activity to do with children of all ages and can spark lots of conversations. Definitely ask your child to tell you about their drawing and why they chose each color. You can also ask...
1. Are there feelings or things about you that you sometimes hide? Tell me about that.
2. You might also talk about the idea that if someone tells them to keep something secret from you as their parent or guardian, that that is actually an important time to make sure they tell you. (Unless, of course, it's about your Christmas present! LOL)
Paper Towel Art - Is it magic or science?!
This magic paper towel art will blow your child's mind. As if by magic you can make pictures or colours appear by placing a paper towel in water. How is this possible you ask, is it magic or is it science? Whatever it is this surprise drawing activity is definitely fun!

Messages about consent and bodily autonomy start early, before the conversation is even about s*x.
It happens in how caregivers and strangers interact with a child— whether they demand affection from them or ask permission.
It happens when siblings play— Are their screaming no’s and stop’s respected or ignored?
It happens when they’re told to take another bite of food or not leave the table until their plate is empty— even though they’ve expressed what their body has told them, that they’ve had enough.
It happens when they observe boundary violations between others— parents, characters on television, in video games, or on YouTube.
Kids are learning everyday about consent. It’s important that parents and caregivers are initiating talks, being responsive to curiosities, modeling consent, and using teachable moments as opportunities. It’s not too early or too late to better understand, via actions and words, what healthy consent and boundaries should look and feel like. What they internalize carries forward in how they perceive their voice, their body, their rights, and in how they receive and respect the boundaries of others.
