On a day where my Omega Psi Phi brothers gathered for the annual ,
I pulled away for two pivotal hours. Speaking at the conference proved to be the emotional recharge and professional training our educators deserve.
After signing my new book, From Demotion to Promotion and the Second Edition, From Remedial to Remarkable, I hit I-20 recharged myself. I returned to the event with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper appreciation for the work teachers do every day. The energy of my fraternity brothers was infectious as we celebrated camaraderie and community, but my mind kept drifting back to the impactful conversations and inspiring stories shared at the conference.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the festivities, I found myself standing with a group of friends, reminiscing about our college days and discussing plans for the future. The air was filled with laughter and music, the perfect soundtrack to an evening that was both nostalgic and hopeful.
Later, I took a moment to reflect on the balance between personal joy and professional growth. It was clear that both aspects were essential to a fulfilling life, and I felt grateful for the opportunity to experience such a meaningful day.
Surrounded by friends and buoyed by the spirit of brotherhood, I realized that the connections we make—whether through shared traditions like or through the vital work of teaching—are what truly enrich our lives.
