Georgia Close Up is a nonpartisan, nonprofit educational organization, which encourages responsible participation in the democratic process through educational programs in government and citizenship. Georgia Close Up is committed to developing new and better ways for young people, teachers, and citizens of all ages to gain a practical understanding of public policy. They learn how this affects their lives and in turn how they can effect change.

Georgia Close Up is back! We welcome you to our Georgia Close Up 2023 program, our first program since the pandemic!
We offer 1 to 2 day programs for Middle School & High School students. Our program registration fees include lunches, program handbooks and conference hand-outs.

Last year's conference over 50% of students voiced that they would pass House Bill 426 - Hate Crimes: To provide additional punishment if crimes is motivated by biasness or prejudices.

Last Georgia Close Up's conference over 51% of students agreed that they would pass House Bill 331 dealing with Family Violence; To define family violence, to include extended dating relationships and to exclude corporal punishment.

On our last annual conference, around 34% of students agreed that House Bill 113 which references to restrict the use of electronic while driving for persons under 18.

This past Georgia Close Up Annual Youth Conference, constituent's students got to meet House Member Michael Smith who got a chance to talk about his role and his view on some of the bills being voted on. This conference allows students to talk with representatives and ask them 1 on 1 questions regarding our government.

We aim to try and teach our students the values in being a human. Rule #3 of being a human is that there are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. You can learn as much from failure as you can from success, maybe even more!
