Five finger patterns help introduce finger independence in beginner piano students of all ages - adults and kids alike!
Once they have the hang of it, get them used to the sound of a major pattern (starting on C) and a minor pattern (starting on A). This helps begin ear training as a lot of students have difficulty differentiating between major and minor at the beginning.
If you show them what a five finger pattern looks like on the staff early on, most music books use them in almost every song! It’s a great way to start color coding and identifying repetition as early as a few weeks or a month into learning 😍

As an accompanist and gig musician who has to learn a ton of music in a short amount of time, color coding is a life saver because as soon as my brain sees a repeat color, I know I’ve already played that section and I don’t have to learn more material! Work smarter not harder 😉
Also I heard this audio and knew I had to do a color coding version
