You don’t need expensive materials to help young children learn. Ordinary toys can spark extraordinary growth in early math, science, language, and literacy. What little ones need most is love, attention, and space to explore.
Many wonderful toys can be found at thrift shops, yard sales, dollar stores, and even the local drugstore. And as children grow, toys can be passed along, shared, or gifted, carrying memories with them.
Our new series, Teaching Young Children With Toys, was created from the heart. We’ll be sharing gentle ideas and simple activities that turn inexpensive toys into meaningful learning experiences—showing families just how magical learning through play can be.
