Breaking News:
After massive growth in applications - over 51,600 this past cycle - UGA has confirmed the decision to drop its supplemental essay for the 2026-2027 application cycle. The middle school book essay - which students either loved or hated - is a thing of the past. David Graves, in a blog post earlier today, stated that the admissions team has plenty of information for holistic decision- making from the application already, including the main Personal Statement essay.

Very sad to hear of the closing of undergraduate programs at Oakland. If you’re building your college list, please know that when colleges have a high proportion of athletes (esp 50% or more), it is a big red flag 🚩- Dig deeper into their financial stability. I enjoyed my visit to OCU (especially the crime lab!) and my heart goes out to everyone affected.

Cool College Course:

Imagine trading a traditional math classroom for the Magic Kingdom! In this incredible May Experience (MayX) program, dubbed Math & the Mouse, Furman University students earn 2 credits while gaining valuable experience applying mathematical modeling and data analysis directly to Disney World operations.

From running k-means clustering to route park locations to using simulation models to analyze ride wait times, students get a behind-the-scenes look at how data drives the magic.

Students complete a series of 3 projects, present to Team Disney, and gain valuable experience over 3 weeks with zero days off. The course is offered every other year and is open for all majors to apply.
