"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." Benjamin Franklin

Parents are the 1st Teachers. 🍎 Everything begins when you first held your baby and taught them how to wrap their tiny finger around yours.

I fondly remember this mom. She became a dear friend of mine, who heard of me reaching out to her church Scholarship Committee regarding their assistance they offer to students. She shared that her student was a Freshman in college and needed some guidance on why she missed winning some of the scholarships she had been applying to. πŸ€”

Did you know that the key to winning scholarship essay contests is...PROOFREADING. πŸ‘€ A panel of judges are used to read, score and select the winner. πŸ† πŸ’°

Once this young lady saw the mistakes that were made on three essay topics covering: Community Service, Career Choice and Deserving a Scholarship she gained confidence in submitting scholarships again.

Guess what? The three scholarships that she had missed before, when the time opened up again to apply - she applied using her critiqued essays and won a total of $15,000.

*Moral to the story is: Applying to scholarships is the best part-time job that a student can have. Get involved parents. Please don't write the essays out or apply to the contests for the student. Teach students to have some skin in the game. This is how strong writing skills develop while in college so students don't feel so overwhelmed when professors give essay writing assignments. They can't take parents into the classroom. ✍️

πŸ‘‚πŸΎ Lean in.... I have a very important message to share with you.

πŸ”ˆ PROOFREAD ESSAYS WIN SCHOLARSHIPS! πŸ’°
Oftentimes when a student is recycling essays that have not been proofread, this can be the answer to resolving the mystery of winning scholarships. πŸ˜‰

Scholarship organizations use a panel of judges and one of the biggest mistakes that students often make are:
GRAMMATICAL ERRORS. You lose points for errors made.

It's Scholarship Season! Try not to leave money on the table or floor as seen in this photo. ✍️ πŸ’°

Food for thought: πŸ₯— College involves a ton of essay writing assignments. Why not encourage your student to learn how to get paid for scholarship essay contests? By the time they've had 3-5 essays proofread and critiqued, this will give them content to keep recycling each month to more contests.

Recently I heard a mom share that she was excited to pay out of pocket for her student a total of $100,000.00 so they could graduate from college debt free. πŸ€”

Billions of funding are available in scholarships with less than 20% who apply.

Why is it so hard to get students to Google Scholarships online to utilize the search engine sites to find scholarships to apply to?
Research shows that they're online at higher percentages searching for everything else.

College Professors require essay written assignments. ✍️
These scholarship organizations are paying $500, $1,000-$164,000.00 (Bonner Family Foundation) & up for something that takes less than 2 hrs of their time weekly. Students can recycle proofread essays over and over again.

It's good to hear that some parents may have the income to put out $100k over 3 yrs for college. However, the majority can not afford to do this.

Now is the time to replace the comfort of applying to student loans with scholarships. ✍️

"Applying for scholarships is like bathing. In order to see results, you have to do this daily. " πŸ˜‰

Tip #1: Parents of college bound and enrolled college students - colleges, scholarship organizations, corporations and foundations -want to see that your student can write before they award their scholarship. Essay writing skills are needed throughout life. We've all read some company emails needing to be proofread and edited. πŸ€”

πŸ”‘ The key to seeing scholarship awards come to your home are: well written, proofread and edited essays that students can recycle over and over again. πŸ’°

28-year-old paid off $19,000 in student loans in under 2 years: I wanted to 'start a life for myself' 11/07/2025

Why do so many students and parents think that their only option to pay for college is via STUDENT LOANS???

NiaChloe Bowman didn't have the support system needed. Her mom became very ill in high school and passed away while in college. The only way she knew of to attend college and not end up broke afterwards, was to accept a high paying job to help her pay off student loans in 16 months.

Check out her story. What an amazing young lady she is to make the necessary sacrifices to get $16,000 worth of student loans paid off under 2 yrs.

NOVEMBER is National Scholarship Month! Billions in funding is available with less than 20% of students who apply. College involves a ton of essay writing to receive a college degree. Why isn't anyone explaining to students that applying for scholarships ($500, $1,000 and up) is the best Tax Free Gift Money that they can receive and use at any college. They're not restricted to carry a certain GPA as colleges request. Most of these topics can be recycled. Proofreading and edited essays win scholarships.

When parents aren't engaged with the process, students are applying for every other contest that doesn't involve an essay and wasting time. They're also causing parents to lose financially applying for Parent Plus Loans.

The key to winning is putting forth the effort to apply.

If your student has loans, it is never too late to start applying for scholarships to pay off loans while in college.
