The Inaugural Hearts in Arts focused on SCID (Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Disease), which affects 1 in 100,000 newborns with very few living past 6 months old. Hearts in Arts for SCID helped change the life of Michael; who is not only an Atlanta Native, but a Cobb County 911 operator suffering from SCID. Fortunately, after extensive evaluations by Duke University Medical Center, they determin

ed Michael’s case can be cured with a bilateral lung and bone marrow transplant. Michael will be only the second person in the entire world to receive a bilateral lung and bone marrow transplant, which makes this benefit monumental. Duke University agreed to perform the procedure; the goal of Hearts& Arts is to raise sufficient funds enough to drastically decrease the cost of such a procedure. Creative and intimate, Hearts in Arts for SCID opened with and an artistically influenced fashion show like no other. Followed by a journey through the diversity of the arts from a wide range of artistically inclined people and groups. The venue was decorated with pieces from participating visual artists and featured vendors. Bringing the night to an end with a silent auction of the pieces created live during the show. This benefit along with those to are unparalleled events blending philanthropy, community, fashion, arts, and health awareness. Our benefits, programs and events present opportunities to provide charitable, tax deductable donations that will save lives and inform communities one HeART at a time!

June 24, 2013 - Powder Springs: Michael Keim trains for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. He will run to thank the mother who has given up her career to care for him. He will run for his older sister, who suspended her college education, to become the family’s mom. Lastly, he will run for the person he doesn’t know and the family he never met, but without whose decisions to donate lungs and bone marrow, Keim would likely already be dead.
