A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to go to Los Angeles for Lewis Howes' Summit of Greatness, on behalf of the company I partner with Brandbuildersgroup.
It was truly life-changing. And the co-founder, Rory Vaden - who has helped Lewis grow his business exponentially, was one of the most powerful keynote speakers.
What was the most fascinating is how many people in the audience were so deeply moved and empowered by Rory's talk, they knew exactly what they needed to do next to turn their passion into a powerful vehicle for impact.
I was so pumped when I saw his speech was released on Lewis Howes' podcast today.
YOU WILL BE CHANGED! I know I was - and I work with the guy! Take a listen here:

Wow. Ask chatgpt this.
What do you know about me that I may not know about myself, based on our previous interactions?

The mental anguish we go through on a daily basis and normalize is pretty remarkable.
On World Mental Health Awareness Day, I am so grateful that we have more open conversations about it, less stigma on therapy and treatment, and more options available than we ever have.
You know that feeling where you KNOW you've outgrown where you are and it no longer feels right - EVEN THOUGH you worked so hard to get there?
Ahhhh, it can happen in so many areas.
For me, it required a reinvention.
I didn't even realize it at the time, but it felt like I couldn't keep the mask on any longer.
I needed to change.
And if you're in that spot where change is a-coming - either by choice or by force, I'd be honored if you listened to my story and the wisdom that has come of it that I am sharing with you.
I was recently featured on the brilliant π Elyse Archer's podcast, She Sells and re-aired it on Late Learner Podcast this week.

It's been a freakin' WEEK!
Between the natural disasters, the US election, war in Lebanon (my father is from there), and just a LOT of loss and uncertainty, I'm noticing something else emerging.
Common ground. Compassion. Beauty. Community.
I mean, even the VP Presidential debate was a jarring display of civil discourse (not used to that!).
As I see the aftermath of the devastating Hurricane Helene rip through the beloved mountains of North Carolina and throughout the southeast, I see video after video of neighbors dropping everything to put their neighbors above their own needs.
So much beauty and humanity is emerging.
And it got me thinking of "happy places" when things get tough.
Not always a place to escape, but where you feel the most present and whole.
I'm writing about it in tomorrow's email. Do you get my emails where you go 1:1 with me?
If not, join me here. I want to get to know what matters to you, too. https://allisonhare.com/email

It's Sunday. You've considering new opportunities for growth and improvement ahead....but there's something else looming.
Sundays are great because you aren't inundated with relentless emails/texts/meetings/Slacks/notifications.
You have a moment to breathe.
To consider something else.
But what if the options you're considering can change EVERYTHING for you?
I was used to the Sunday Scaries. And would often fantasize about life without the frightfest dreading another over-packed, exhausting, yet decidingly unfulfilling and depleting week.
I'd fantasize of a more fulfilling life.
One filled with purpose, presence, and possibilities.
But one very big, very ugly thing would stop it.
My ego.

Fuel your ego or fuel your growth?
The biggest fear of almost every high-achieving person I speak to (and it's A LOT) is not what you think it is. These are people who have overcome odds. They've reached levels of success that they've fought for every single step of the way. Their biggest fear isn't necessarily loss of income...

Can you overdose on self-help?
I think so.
In fact, I was so steamed up about it, I wrote a blog about it. And recorded a podcast about it.

I've fantasized about making big changes but got stuck before I even started.
π£ This was so true for eventually leaving my corporate career π©βπΌ
π£ Starting the podcast π€ π§
π£ Having an app idea and running with it (I tried, but no dice)
π£ Becoming a reinvention coach (hey! π it's me)
π£ Becoming a dance fitness instructor and leading classes (π no background here either)
π£ Endurance challenges (12-hour walks, solo overnight hikes, hiking tallest and steepest peaks, newly minted 1/2 marathon, etc)
π£ A million other ideas...in progress
I mean, where do I start? Which path do I pick? DO I EVEN HAVE TIME?
WILL I SUCK AT IT?
When you're trying to do big things, sometimes lowering the bar (literally when it comes to CrossFit π€£ ) is the fastest path to success.
Sharing the goods in the blog below.
And also, I recorded a solo episode with some pretty life-changing lessons from my first 1/2 marathon this past weekend on Late Learner Podcast. Go listen, ya hear?

I ran my first 1/2 marathon this past weekend.
It reminded me of my CrossFit days. I had never worked out before. And it taught me a winning approach that is the exact opposite of societyβs competitive nature.

Studies show that the strongest factor for making a decision has less to do with facts and everything to do with the tribe for which you belong. Your social identity.
What happens when you decide to SWITCH careers?
What happens when you recategorize a friendship?
Move from the city to the suburbs (gasp!)?
What happens if you've outgrown where you are but are afraid of what's next?
This topic has me white-knuckling some big personal decisions in my own life right now.
And I think it's time we shed light on how much weight our social identities play into our sense of belonging.
Unpacking it in this blog post AND on today's rereleased episode of Late Learner Podcast with the provocative neural psychology professor Jay Van Bavel, PhD.
As always, links in the link. I would LOVE to hear your take on this!
Stereotypes, Social Identities, and Belonging
Allison Hare talks to Dr. Jay Van Bavel about social identities, stereotypes, and exploring the truth behind the powerful forces behind our deep need to belong.
