Lakeside Middle OFFICIAL page for Lakeside MS, located in Cumming, GA. Lakeside Middle School opened in 2009 with Ms. Debbie Sarver as the school’s first principal.

Approximately 730 students from Otwell, Riverwatch and South Forsyth middle schools joined to form this new school. Because of its close proximity to Lake Lanier, the school was named Lakeside. Lake Lanier is a reservoir that is named for poet Sidney Lanier. It was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the 1950s and is used for hydroelectricity, flood control, drinking water and recreational purposes.

What animal totals 1500 global species, sports a backward knee bend, and contributes to our crops--including dispersal of seeds for beloved cocoa trees? The bat! Nature Club hosted Forsyth County Master Naturalists Laurie and Larry Alvord to learn about this vital and sometimes misunderstood mammal.

The Georgia HOSA Fall Leadership Rally at Six Flags brings future healthcare student leaders together for an inspiring day filled with general leadership sessions, competitive events, and theme park fun. Attendees can energize their local chapters, network with peers from across the state, and enjoy unlimited access to the park’s thrill rides after the official programming. As part of the competitive events, members can earn the prestigious Statesman Award by taking an online knowledge test prior to the rally, with top scorers receiving state-level recognition during the event’s award ceremony. Attention 8th Grade Families - Our Lakeside counselors will be hosting Coffee with Counselors on Tuesday, October 27th at 8am in the Lakeside Media Center. This sessions will focus on basic high school transition information, such as credits & GPA, high school pathways, out of district information, dual enrollment, and upcoming registration timeline. Please RSVP by Friday, October 23rd. This session is intended for 8th grade parents/guardians.
