This film has been built moment by moment on set, between takes, and in the quiet work no one sees.

Sharing a few behind the scenes frames from Garner as we continue shaping a story that carries weight, memory, and responsibility.

July 17, 2014.
Eric Garner was stopped by police in Staten Island for allegedly selling loose ci******es. The encounter escalated. An officer placed him in a chokehold.

As multiple officers restrained him, Eric Garner said the words “I can’t breathe” eleven times.
He died shortly after.

This is not just a date in history it is a reminder of how easily dignity, breath, and life can be taken, and how urgently accountability and humanity are needed.

We remember Eric Garner.
We continue to tell the truth.
We continue to demand better.

The Unfortunate Truth

Today, we’re sharing the official poster for Garner.

This film centers Eric Garner while tracing the long history that shaped his final moments. We dive deep into the genealogy of American policing and how it has shaped the intergenerational relationship between Black men and law enforcement, a connection passed down alongside memory, resilience, and legacy.

This poster represents remembrance, responsibility, and serves as an invitation to a much larger conversation.

Garner is a film that speaks to a truth the world and the lived experiences of Black and other marginalized communities know too well. This film is not only honoring Eric Garner, but challenging the silence, accountability gaps, and systemic injustices that continue to claim Black lives.

This past week I seen and learned so much. I’m hopeful real change will happen but I’m also worried that once the protest dies down, we won’t have as many hands on deck for the real and difficult work. Let’s not lose momentum once the protest stops. Don’t forget to vote and support black business.
