Prom and Graduation Update (July 7, 2020)
As you may know, the Governor has extended social distancing restrictions through August 11th. This will not allow Pike County High School to host a prom this year. Refunds are being worked on as we speak, and checks will be mailed when completed. We made every effort to provide a prom, but mandates prevent us from doing so.
While the governor’s mandates prevent us from hosting prom, we have made arrangements for graduation. We are proud to announce the Pike County Schools graduation will take place at Atlanta Motor Speedway, following social distancing guidelines, as scheduled on July 25th at 9 am. The Atlanta Motor Speedway venue allows graduates an unlimited number of guests and a unique commencement experience. We are excited about this opportunity to celebrate with you

On August 28, 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. King's speech was the grand finale of the "March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom." His words have endured as one of the signature moments of the civil rights movement.
In honor of the Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., National Park Service sites offer free admission for everyone on Monday, January 20, 2020, as the first fee free day of the year. Commemorated on the third Monday of January, it is also a day of service when hundreds of volunteers participate in service projects at parks across the country. “Let’s give our educators another well-deserved pay raise. In my budget, I have included a $2,000 pay raise for all public school educators. This raise will enhance retention rates, boost recruitment numbers, and improve educational outcomes in schools throughout Georgia. By investing in our educators, we can build a strong house, a place where everyone learns and all Georgians have the opportunity to thrive.” —Governor Brian Kemp’s State of the State address
