Since 2002 Cherokee County Safety Town has been a vital part of the transition to kindergarten for many preschoolers. Every summer we educate an average of 225 five-year-olds about how to stay safe in the water, around animals, poisons, or strangers, on the school bus, their bicycles, or the sidewalks, in the car, or in case of an emergency. Safe Kids Cherokee County Need Help with your Car Seat? The Woodstock location offers appointments on every other week on Mondays. The Canton location has appointments available on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week.

It’s almost time!!! Safety Town registration opens April 1, 2024.
The link will be posted here and on the Safe Kids Cherokee page.
The camps will be June 10-14 and 17-21 for entering kindergarteners. We also need teen volunteers.

Safety Town is coming back to Bascomb Elementary School this Summer! Students entering kindergarten in the fall can attend the program June 19-23. Students entering first grade can attend the program June 26-30. The camp runs from 9am-12pm each day. Registration is now open for each session.

Cherokee County Safety Town is hosted by Safe Kids Cherokee County and Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services. Students will learn all about how to stay safe with interactive lessons each day. Safe Kids partners such as US Army Corps of Engineers, Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee County Marshal’s Office, Cherokee County School Police, Cherokee County School Bus Transportation, Cherokee County Animal Shelter and more will be there each day to teach anything from water safety to school bus safety. In addition, each day, the campers will create fun crafts, play games and ride on the miniature town to learn traffic safety rules, all while having FUN!

Safety Town also provides an opportunity for teens to earn community hours by registering as a counselor.

Cherokee County Safety Town is changing course. After years of teaching safety to entering kindergarteners, we will be taking our lessons to children of many ages through the Cherokee Recreation & Parks Summer Camp program. Safety Town has been revamped and the lessons will be included for all children attending the Cherokee County Recreation and Parks Summer Camp Program. Safe Kids will visit camp each week providing a new safety lesson and activity. For more information about the camps, go to playcherokee.org.
