The Carolina Hunger Education and Activism Project (C.H.E.A.P.) Ultimately, we hope to create a sustainable and thriving community of hunger activists at UNC.

is committed to combating both local and global hunger by engaging students in education, activism and awareness. C.H.E.A.P gives students the opportunity to learn about the many faces of hunger through campus and community events and works to expose others to the necessity and affordability of ending world hunger within our lifetime. Thank you so much to those that came to Heel Meals! With you help, we packaged 6,700 meals!!

We didn't get a chance to thank our collaborators today but the event would not have been possible without help from UNC Asian American Students Association, Hinton James Community at UNC, Hope Gardens, and Carolina Cupboard: Community Food Pantry.

We hope this event is the start of an annual Carolina meal packaging tradition!

A new training has been posted in the Buckley Portfolio, offered by CHEAP!

Engaging with government as a student: A perspective from Hunger Activism

Carolina Hunger Education and Activism Project is partnering with the Borgen Project to inform students about effective ways to communicate with local and federal government about service issues that are important to them. The training will include a workshop on email writing, a guide for finding relevant government documents, useful tips strategies for productive government communication and examples of effective communication in the context of hunger activism.
