Be a Healing Presence.

Holding space requires us to step fully into Being when everything inside of us tell us we should be Doing.

Space holding doesn’t mean taking responsibility for the internal world of another.

It’s never our job to fix another persons feelings, or to expect someone else can fix ours.

Holding space isn’t saying all the right things… it isn’t doing much of anything really.

Holding space is the art of “being with” someone’s pain and allowing them to have their experience without making it about ourselves.

Holding space is the quiet, powerful force of present loving connection.

Holding space is an “I Love you and I’m not going anywhere” while you process this emotion.

Holding space is patience and eye-contact when someone is scared or overwhelmed by their own feelings.

Presence without judgement, a hug, non-reactivity, learning not to take things personally or trying to save someone from their feelings are all profound acts of space holding.

Our pain and our grief deserve equal seats at the table as our sparkle and our joy.

Blocks only occur when we try turning off the tap. And as we learn to let our feelings in, we learn to let them go just as freely.

Living by a "good vibes or goodbye” philosophy is dangerously shallow.

In a culture where we shame negative feelings and pedestal the light, we risk isolating ourselves from others when we really need love and support.

Relationships are deepened through vulnerability and the courage to let another in when you’re hurting.

Closeness comes from seeing someone in their darkest moments and reminding them they’re loved exactly as they are.

Be kind to yourself!

The fact that you’re struggling doesn’t make you a burden. It doesn’t make you unlovable or undesirable or undeserving of care. It doesn’t make you too much or too sensitive or too needy. It makes you human. Everyone struggles. Everyone has a difficult time coping, and at times, we all fall apart. During these times, we aren’t always easy to be around —and that’s okay. No one is easy to be around one hundred percent of the time. Yes, you may sometimes be unpleasant or difficult. And yes, you may sometimes do or say things that make the people around you feel helpless or sad. But those things aren’t all of who you are and they certainly don’t discount your worth as a human being. The truth is that you can be struggling and still be loved. You can be difficult and still be cared for. You can be less than perfect, and still be deserving of compassion and kindness.

Remember to pay attention to those signs...

So much truth in this. And learning HOW to be with your scared, broken, hurt aspects is an essential key... the next step.

If you're trying to fix your sadness, your grief, your fear, your anger, your loneliness, your doubts, your broken heart, your deep longing for Home, you've already made them into a problem, and so you're already at war. Your search for a solution implies that something is broken and needs fixing here. There is a 'good me' at war with a 'bad me', a 'perfect self' at war with an 'imperfect self', and this is the root of all violence.

End the dualistic war. Stop splitting yourself in two. Two is one too many for you. Turn towards the part of yourself that feels broken, tender, raw, 'bad', and for a moment, stop running away from it, and stop searching for its solution. Listen to it. Stay present with it, as you would with a hurt child. Stay very close indeed. Do not turn away. It may contain valuable information. Begin to allow the un-allowable part, begin to accept these seemingly unacceptable energies within yourself, or simply accept that you cannot accept right now; simply allow your total inability to allow. Shine your light fearlessly into the darkness. You will come to see that there are no enemies within you, no mistakes, no demons, no brokenness, only manifestations of consciousness that long to be met, embraced, integrated as part of an infinitely larger picture; only children that long to return Home...

No solution?
No problem.
Only Love.

Blessings

Think of one person or situation that brings you real happiness, and offer a blessing in whatever way seems simple, natural and right for you.

Now think of a person or circumstance you really dislike. Try to offer a blessing now. How was that for you?

When you offer a benediction, you request in the highest realms that this person or situation reach its truest ability to benefit all. Even someone you dislike may become slightly more their true self, some negativity may be cleared, because of your intention of blessing.

Blessings are a two-way street. When you offer blessing to a person or situation, the the grace hidden within it can reach you.
