The Japanese Film Festival hosted by the Consulate-General of Japan in Atlanta begins this week. It takes place at Georgia State's Dunwoody Campus, every other day at 4 pm. The first film, Departures, opens tomorrow. These are all great films and I encourage you to go, whether for listening practice or just to enjoy a good movie. Synopses and schedule is linked below. Gwinnett getting Georgia’s first English-Japanese dual language charter school Gwinnett County is getting a new charter school that will aim to teach elementary school-age children how to speak English and Japanese.

‘The Restaurant Of Order Mistakes’ Employs Waiters With Dementia, And You Never Know What You’re Getting One of the most frustrating things that can happen when eating out is ordering one dish but receiving another. Surprisingly, one restaurant is offering just that - The Restaurant of Order Mistakes popped up in Tokyo's Toyosu district, and its mission was to hire waiters with dementia.

Newly re-branded Japanese restaurant Kuroshio is offering a 50% off deal. Very close to Midtown Station.

Studio Ghibli's The Secret World of Arrietty will be showing at 10:30 AM Sat (dubbed) and Sun (subtitled) at Midtown Art Cinema. This is a great film that shows the wonderful direction that Ghibli is headed in as Miyazaki steps away from full-time directing duty. Check it out!

Plot: "From legendary animation house Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle) comes The Secret World of Arrietty, an adventure based on Mary Norton's acclaimed children's book series The Borrowers. Arrietty (voice of Bridgit Mendler), a tiny but tenacious 14-year-old, lives with her parents (Will Arnett and Amy Poehler) in the recesses of a suburban garden home, unbeknownst to the homeowner and her housekeeper (Carol Burnett). Like all little people, Arrietty (AIR-ee-ett-ee) remains hidden from view, except during occasional covert ventures beyond the floorboards to "borrow" scrap supplies like sugar cubes from her human hosts. But when 12-year-old Shawn (David Henrie), a human boy who comes to stay in the home, discovers his mysterious housemate one evening, a secret friendship blossoms.
