In 1999, Kristin accepted a grant from Georgia Perimeter College to study painting in Imatra, Finland. The experience has had a lasting effect.
Guided by Russian and Finnish masters, she explored printmaking, painting, photography and independent studies. Heavily influenced by contemporary European artists, her work is imbued with both the spirit of her journey abroad and a connection with her Scandinavian heritage. I had a wonderful time last night at Decatur City Life’s launch party celebrating its partners and meeting so many amazing small businesses. I was honored to be commissioned to make a piece representing Oakhurst and it was received beautifully. This piece was on their first cover and I have a write up in their second issue. Thank you to the publisher Caroline Flicken and Angie Macon of Decatur Arts Alliance for helping me shine!
