During Convocation 2023, members of our Kappa Epsilon chapter met with Walter Hambrick, Deputy Chief of Staff for Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. We expressed well wishes for the success of the Mayor's trip to West Africa, on which he was called away during our HomeKoming.

Our sisters (representing Texas and our International area) discussed pressing issues affecting the LGBT community, with special emphasis on unhoused youth and programs impacting LGBT seniors.

Grand Chapter will continue to dialogue with the current administration - and be a voice for our community as the office transitions.

We thank Mr. Hambrick, the Office of Mayor Turner, and their administrative staff for the warm welcome. We appreciate the work they do each day to support all of Houston's citizens. We're excited to do our part to move our hometown forward, together!

TARGET: Social Impact & Policy Awareness

It is Freedom Day. On this date, 158 years ago, the news finally reached the enslaved women, men, and children of Texas. They would be bound no more - they were free.

Though the look of Juneteenth has changed since it was declared a Federal holiday a few years ago, the message remains. It is a call to remember our ancestors, their sacrifices, and the achievement of the first step of their dreams of freedom and equity for people of African descent.

Remember them. Honor this day. It is ours.

Happy Juneteenth, family!

Did you know: The official colors of Juneteenth are red, white, and blue.
Not only did we build America...we ARE America.

Anchors, supporters, and friends, hug a Kappa today!

On this day eight years ago, Kappa Theta Epsilon's future was secured. The sorority was incorporated to ensure lawful operation across all US states and territories.

Since then, our sisterhood has expanded to multiple cities across eight states, spanning the breadth of our nation. In May, we became international. Kappa women continue to trailblaze and reach new heights wherever we set foot.

Thank you to our sorors for your continued commitment to service, impact, sisterhood, and success. You make every moment worthwhile.

Head high, standards higher. It's Kappa today, tomorrow, 'til the end.

Join the women of Kappa Theta Epsilon Sorority, Incorporated for the inaugural Sterling Gala. This black tie dinner is held in support of the Sterling Rose Achievement Scholarship, an educational fund created to help Black le***an college student fund their educational pursuit.

DID YOU KNOW:
Only 25% of le***an women who start college complete their degree program.

That's well below the national average for all students (32%), and below their gay male counterparts (34%). Though lots of factors contribute to this trend, a lack of access to fund their continuing education is a key issue.

Let's change that together.

Join us in Houston, Texas July 22nd, 2023 for the Gala. Help us raise funds to help young women reach their dreams.

You'll enjoy a delicious meal and an evening of stellar entertainment.

Party with a purpose. Make a difference. Change a life.

Tickets are on sale NOW! Get yours today. https://KappaThetaEpsilon.com/galatix

Can't attend? Support the scholarship by purchasing a virtual ticket or table. Thank you for your support!
