Cancer Biology Graduate Program 09/28/2010

The Graduate Program in Cancer Biology is an interdisciplinary program within the Graduate Division of Biological and Biomedical Sciences (GDBBS) in the Laney Graduate School at Emory University. Study within the Cancer Biology Graduate Program leads to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree. At the completion of their training, students will be able to design and conduct hypothesis-driven research using state-of-the-art techniques. Students will be able to critically interpret scientific literature and use effective written and oral communication to present their scientific discoveries. Different approaches are applied to diverse model systems to address how a normal cell becomes a cancer, how a cancer progresses to a metastatic state at the molecular level and how the understanding of these mechanisms can be exploited for cancer therapy.
