FSA Insider's Look: Solar Power in Action!

Our fourth graders became full solar-powered scientists! From learning about Solar Suitcases bringing light to hospitals in Nigeria to exploring massive solar innovations in Israel’s Negev Desert and near Beijing, students saw how engineers are using the sun to power our world.

Then, they ventured outside and put the sun to work! Students built circuits using solar cells to turn sunlight into motion, discovering that while solar energy is powerful, it definitely comes with a few engineering challenges (clouds, angles, and lots of teamwork)!

We wrapped up the week with students using CER to explain how energy is transferred using solar cells, backing their ideas with real evidence like true scientists.

FSA Researchers Earn Honors at State-Level GSEF 2026

Fulton Science Academy proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of our students at the Georgia Science & Engineering Fair 2026 (GSEF), one of the most prestigious STEM research competitions in the state.

The event was held March 26–27, 2026, at the The Classic Center in Athens. This year’s fair featured 407 research projects across 21 categories, with more than 600 students from across Georgia presenting innovative scientific investigations.
Representing excellence from Fulton County, two FSA projects advanced to the state level, showcasing the strength of our students’ research, creativity, and scientific inquiry.

We are proud to recognize the accomplishments of our talented students:

Om earned 2nd Honors in his category, demonstrating exceptional research and analytical skills and Nina was recognized as a State Competitor, representing FSA with distinction at the state level!

These achievements reflect the dedication, perseverance, and passion of our students, as well as the strong culture of research and innovation at Fulton Science Academy.

Congratulations to our outstanding students for their remarkable success at GSEF 2026! We are incredibly proud of your accomplishments and look forward to your continued excellence in STEM.

An Insider's Look: Learning Comes to Life at FSA!

Ms. Andersen's class is excited to introduce a brand new dramatic play station, made possible through an MSO (FSA's parent organization) mini grant! This creative space brings learning to life by blending play-based experiences into math and literacy centers.

From counting and problem-solving to reading and communication, students are building essential skills through imaginative, real-world role play. Their first theme was a student-run coffee shop, which was a huge hit! Students eagerly stepped into their roles and loved learning through hands-on exploration.

Even more special, the custom stand was built using grant-funded materials, making this space a true labor of creativity and community support!

With a new theme coming each month, we can’t wait to see our students continue to learn, create, and grow through play!

The future of STEM education is not just about knowledge.
It is about leadership, innovation, and real-world impact.

Excited to share that the National Consortium of STEM Schools (NCSS) 2026 Student Leadership & Research Conference will take place July 16–18, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia, in collaboration with Fulton Science Academy Private School , Tech North Atlanta, and Georgia Tech Research Institute.

This experience goes beyond a traditional research conference. It is intentionally designed to help students present, think, collaborate, and lead.
Students in grades 8–12 will have the opportunity to:

• Present original research and receive expert feedback
• Engage in leadership-focused STEM sessions
• Participate in a STEM Innovators & Entrepreneurship Forum
• Experience a university-level research environment

What makes this especially meaningful is the integration of research, leadership, and entrepreneurship—helping students connect what they learn to how they can contribute to the world.

In a time when AI and rapid change are reshaping every field, creating these kinds of opportunities for students is more important than ever.

For registration and more information please visit: https://stemschools.org/2026-student-research-conference/

Looking forward to seeing students come together to learn, collaborate, and lead.

During Spring Break, our traditional Europe Trip took place with 33 students, parents, and teachers. It was a wonderful and memorable experience for everyone involved.

During the trip, we visited Zurich, Genoa, and Paris, including CERN, the world’s largest particle physics laboratory. There, our students had the opportunity to explore science experiments and learn about some of CERN’s important inventions and contributions to the world of science.

Students also visited a major cheese factory and a major chocolate factory, where they learned about the production processes and enjoyed tasting delicious cheese and chocolate. In France, they had the chance to learn more about French history through a visit to the Palace of Versailles, one of the country’s most famous historic royal residences and museums.

In addition to these educational experiences, our students enjoyed unforgettable sightseeing opportunities, including the Eiffel Tower and the beautiful Alps.

We are grateful for the wonderful memories made during this trip and look forward to offering another Europe Trip experience next year!

Thanks to all our parent and staff chaperones that kept this trip running smoothly and well organized!

SPARK Symposium: A Celebration of Student Innovation and Research

Yesterday, Fulton Science Academy proudly hosted our annual SPARK Symposium, a signature event where high school students showcased their research, creativity, and academic passions.

From in-depth research projects to innovative ideas, our students demonstrated curiosity, critical thinking, and a true commitment to learning beyond the classroom. It was inspiring to see them confidently present their work, engage in meaningful conversations, and celebrate the depth of knowledge across our school.

SPARK represents the heart of FSA. At Fulton Science Academy students are encouraged to explore, question, and grow into thoughtful, future-ready leaders. Having the ability to present research to their peers and mentors is an opportunity that most students don't get to do until college, and we are so proud of how our students showcased their passions and independent research projects.

Thank you to all the teachers, parents and admin that played a role in mentoring, planning, and executing this event. Your support and leadership mean the world to our academic program!
