Loved presenting on Arts Integration to our Beaufort County, South Carolina Arts Teachers today!!

What a beautiful lesson!

A teacher gave a balloon to every student, who had to inflate it, write their name on it and throw it in the hallway. The teacher then mixed all the balloons. The students were then given 5 minutes to find their own balloon. Despite a hectic search, no one found their balloon.

At that point, the teacher told the students to take the first balloon that they found and hand it to the person whose name was written on it. Within 5 minutes, everyone had their own balloon.

The teacher said to the students: "These balloons are like happiness. We will never find it if everyone is looking for their own. But if we care about other people's happiness, we'll find ours too."

I tend to post everything to my regular page and often don’t have time to post here but I do want to thank the Kansas Art Education Association for having me as their keynote speaker this past weekend at their fabulous fall conference!! It was my absolute honor to be a part of this event and to meet so many fantastic and passionate art educators!!

And then I was blessed to spend last week in Fulton County with the fabulous AP students at Milton HS!!


Consulting, mentoring, working with teachers and students is my passion so holler if you need anything!!

Harper Archer Elementary School - 1st Grade YAM Celebration Debi West had the pleasure of working with the 1st graders at Harper Archer Elementary School during a week in March 2021 to celebrate Youth Art Month and teach students to be artists, scientists and poets. Students looked at the art of Georgia O'Keeffe, zoomed in on flowers to learn the vocabulary....

It was another fabulous day working with some amazing teachers!! Today I spent “heART day” with 55 art teachers in Berkeley County SC!!

These Kinders at are absolutely rockin’ their Collaborative Community Mural!

And we’re not finished YET!!!

I’m already having an amazing time at Harper Archer Elementary School in Atlanta working with these awesome kinders!! I just love these week long artist residencies!!

I started this new year off perfectly by spending the day with the incredible art teachers in Glynn County!! I loved working with you and can’t wait to see how you implement these lessons!

I can’t tell you how much I’ve enjoyed the past few months working with teachers across the Southeast, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Florida and across the nation with WESTpectations, ArtsNOW and the AOEU!!

Arts-based - Project-based learning is the KEY to our children’s success!

It’s been a busy summer and a super busy week where I was blessed to work with teachers in Columbia County on Monday and Tuesday and the fabulous art teachers in Cobb County on Thursday (and I presented at The Art of Education University’s online conference yesterday)
I LOVE sharing successful PBL teaching strategies with educators and reminding art teachers why their room is the most important room in the school!
