Jean asked me to post that the class is getting together at Jimmie D’s in Hawkeye on Friday September 13th at noon. Everyone is invited.
Looking forward to our 60th next year.
North HS Class of 65 West Union, Iowa
55th class reunion in September 2020
Well, a decision has been made and I am not happy that I will be unable to attend the reunion next week. My husband has had covid for the last two weeks. He is getting better, but is still very fatigued. There is no way he would be up to making the trip, and of course I will not leave him home alone, so I have cancelled everything. We were vaccinated and his case has been "mild", but he has definitely been sick - worse than a bad cold according to him. Fortunately, I have not shown any symptoms. I am hoping that doesn't change.
Everyone have a great time! I will miss seeing you.

Thank you, Jean Sanders Gross, for finding this. [Edit. Sorry, Jean, I left off your married name. Must be dementia. I remember the past, but not the present.]

I have had more fun today looking at the old Union newspapers online from the years I lived in West Union. They are on the city library site and are free to look at. I now know almost everything I did growing up. I know every time I made the honor roll, baton twirling, drill team, band, competitive speech. I know birthday parties I attended and who attended mine. I know when I had my tonsils out and when my family went on vacation to California. I even had a poem I wrote in 4th grade published in the paper. I know a whole lot about all of you, too, since you often show up in the same places. Fun!

I am assuming everyone received the Save the Date letter from Paul Searles. Just in case, I thought I would post the information here, as well. September 18 & 19, 2020 at Jo & Vaughn's place again. That was the perfect venue and we thank them for offering it again.
Rooms are reserved at the Best Rest Inn & Suites in West Union. Contact them at 563-422-3537 for reservations.
Come dressed like it was 1965 again! Or casual dress. Other details will be forthcoming.

Can't wait to see you all in September!
Girls of class of '65: I am coming to Iowa to spend some time with my dad. I will be coming the end of this week. If anyone wants to do another get together, anytime during the following two weeks would work for me. (The first two weeks of April.) Anyone interested? Pick a date and spread the word. Girls! I will be in Iowa May 19th for a couple of weeks. We are looking at another mini-reunion. My husband flies back to Atlanta on morning of the 23rd, so anytime that week would be great. Any preferences?
I just learned today that Jane Westerfield Turner passed away last week. She was one of my best friends growing up. So sorry to hear that she is no longer with us. Love and prayers to her family.
I will be in Iowa again this summer - end of August. I am on a much more limited schedule this year, so the only day I could do a get together would be on Monday August 29. Do any of you girls want to get together for our breakfast/lunch day? Just let me know. I will be taking my husband to the CR airport that morning, so should be a good day for me to do it. Merry Christmas, everyone! May all your wishes come true. And for those who are carrying extra burdens this year, prayers go out to you. May all feel the love of Jesus Christ on this, His birthday.
