Georgia Coalition for Advancing Sex Education Parents and alumni of the Gwinnett County School District advocate for a comprehensive s*x education curriculum in our public schools.

This group began in June of 2017, after the S*x Ed portion of the Summer Health & PE class at Brookwood High School. A group of local parents and alumni were very upset to learn about some of the activities that took place in the class, and about shaming messages that were conveyed to students. Former GCPS students recalled participating in similar lessons, which they experienced as harmful. Our g

oal is to remove the current abstinence-based curriculum from the Gwinnett County school system, and replace it with a more effective, non-shaming, comprehensive s*x ed curriculum.

A must-read on Gwinnett County Public Schools and the blatant mishandling of s*xual assault and s*xual harassment cases, and the devastating impacts of racial bias on students.

YR Media found that Gwinnett County Public Schools, which are under federal investigation for possibly mishandling multiple s*xual harassment claims, severely punish children and involve police without providing prevention to change peer culture.

We are proud and excited to endorse Tanisha Banks for Gwinnett Schools for the Gwinnett County School Board 2020 Election. Tanisha has invaluable experience having taught both middle school and high school. She is Special Education certified and currently works with students at the Give Center. Tanisha is pursuing her master’s degree in Counseling to better serve her students and their families. She not only understands GCPS as a teacher but also as a mother of two. Tanisha is passionate and excited to devote herself to this position wholly in order to dedicate her time and energy to the needs of District 3. After 23 years of the same leadership, it is time for District 3 to elect an energetic and qualified advocate for their children. We firmly believe Tanisha Banks is the right choice for District 3!

We are proud and excited to endorse Karen Watkins for the Gwinnett County School Board 2020 Election. Karen is a passionate Gwinnett County resident who believes in this school system and Gwinnett’s ability to go above and beyond for our students. As a mother of two in the GCPS system, Karen understands the important impact the school board has on students and their families. Karen plans to bring her professional expertise to the table to ensure the Gwinnett County School Board will work efficiently, and act transparently. As the co-founder and president of Community Outreach Resources, Inc., Karen understands how to empower communities to be the change they want to see. We are confident she will be a valuable asset not only to the board but to the residents of District 1. GCPS students of District 1 deserve a School Board member who will advocate and represent ALL students. We firmly believe Karen Watkins is the right choice for District 1!
