We’re excited to welcome back Mattison “Matty” Lewis ’11 as he begins a new chapter in education! After earning his BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Matty worked in film and television in Georgia and California before returning home to join Walker as a Guest Teacher while pursuing other professional opportunities.

Matty is now pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching at Kennesaw State University and completing student teaching in a fourth-grade classroom in Walker, with plans to graduate in 2027.

We kicked off the 2026–27 school year in style at Back-to-School Alumni on Tap at StillFire Brewing in Smyrna on Sunday, August 9!

Thank you to all the alumni, former faculty, and current faculty members who joined us for an evening of reconnecting, reminiscing, and celebrating our Wolverine community. The Class of 1998 took home bragging rights for the evening as the class with the biggest turnout!

Save the date for our next Alumni on Tap, Thursday, February 11, 2027, from 5–7 p.m. at Glover Park Brewery. We can’t wait to see you there and at many more alumni events throughout the year!

We loved welcoming Walker alum Chandler Smith ‘14 back to campus as he hosted the Furman University Atlanta-area alumni book launch. In celebration of Furman’s bicentennial, Distinguished University Public Historian and Scholar Courtney Tollison spoke about her book, Furman University: A Bicentennial History, 1826–2026.
