11 Alive News article: Crisis Resolution Consultants offers School Safety Training in Atlanta, Georgia and to schools throughout the country in the midst of the incident at McNair Discovery Learning Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. Crisis Resolution Consultants also recommends a Crisis Response Team as opposed to arm staff in schools. A Crisis Response Team are trained professionals who are equipped to prevented violence against schools from occurring. They are not security guards, they do not carry guns, and they provide a strong presence of safety for both students and staff. They respond to all situations which could cause harm to the school.

After the McNair Discovery Learning Academy shooting, teachers may have questions about how to handle unsafe situations. The Help Desk has found seminars and training opportunities that will help prepare them for scary situations.

School Safety Tip: Identify any unusual behaviors of current students such as: their clothing, graffiti on walls, lockers and books that indicate violence or aggression towards school personnel, the government or other students. Check all exit doors throughout the school day for breaches. Install security cameras and alarms on all doors. Hire outside support personnel to monitor hallways and the exterior of the school.
