My studio workshops are limited to four students to insure that you receive all of the attention you need. The lessons are design for enamel beginners or students with a little enameling or cloisonne´experiencel
The workshop has two parts. During the first two days, we’ll focus on becoming familiar with cloisonné and building your skills—working with wire, enamel, foil, layers, firing, color, and finishing while gaining enough control to begin making your own decisions.
During the second two days, I’ll challenge you to ask, “Now that I have some skills, what can I do with them?” You’ll begin experimenting with making and combining marks, colors, wires, and layers in ways that help reveal what interests you. My goal is that every time you enamel, you aren’t simply practicing techniques—you’re also moving toward a more personal way of using them.
If you’ve been wanting to build a strong cloisonné foundation while also beginning to discover what you might want to do with it, send me an email. The pieces pictured are not our "projects', but they do show the types of skills you will learn: building a canvas, bending wires, applying and firing color layers, using foil to create "layers of light", and finishing your enamel surface. Time permitting we will also do a bezel for enamels demo.
