So cool to learn about lizards blood ability to fight the bacteria Borrelia burgdoferi with special proteins in their blood! This goes for other lizards as well like skinks and fence lizards!

These have gotta be some of the coolest turtles on the planet! These Spiny Turtles (Heosemys spinosa) have such crazy marginal scutes on their shell! They’re literally sharp and knife like, especially as babies! Such a fun time seeing this species in person for the first time!

One of the major highlights a few weeks ago in Cali was definitely finding my first California Kingsnake (Lampropeltis californiae)! We were hiking at sunset for this exact species and a couple passed us on the trail, I joked in my head “Watch, they’ll find a snake before us and spook it off the trail.”… Sure enough they came back towards warning us there’s a snake on the trail! Somehow Bobby managed to spot this snake in the dense grass! Such a beautiful snake and feels awesome seeing them in the wild instead of the pet store!

Michael Skibsted had me cracking up while we were talking about this fascinating and endangered turtle the Mary River Turtle (Elusor macrurus). These fascinating turtles have a special respiratory ability that allows them to breathe through their cloaca.
