On Thursday, October 29th at 1:45, Dr. M. Carey Dukes along with Dr. Steven Dionne and Dr. Karen Loch, will be presenting their work on organizational change and industry disruption.

The proposal is titled, "Disruption on Wheels: Role of Affect and Previous Outcomes on Carrier Readiness for Autonomous Vehicles”. They will go into detail about autonomous driving technology and how it is projected to have a disruptive impact on logistics. For example, autonomous vehicles are projected to impact the trucking industry by over $85 billion in the United States. We argue that the ability to capture the projected benefits of autonomous trucks is dependent on the carrier’s cognitive inclination to accept and commit to new technology – readiness for change. To test our hypotheses, our study utilizes a survey methodology, drawn from 178 managers working in commercial trucking. Our results illustrate that readiness for change, comprised of commitment and perceived efficacy, positively impacts efforts to prepare for autonomous implementation. The data also reveals significant antecedents, specifically the impact of affective attitudes and previous change outcomes on perceived readiness.

Our assessment is designed to be a simple and hassle-free tool. A link is provided for the specific assessment an organization needs. Once each individual participant has completed the assessment, the results can be provided nearly immediately. The results will show a score on a 0-100 scale based on the individual’s readiness. The results are very simple to explain and will provide an in depth look at what areas may need help for future change implementations.
