Drawing makes children more expressive

You can gain an insight into your child's thoughts and feelings through their drawings. Being able to express what they feel also boosts a child's emotional intelligence.

4 stages of drawing and writing development in a child grow from 15 months to 3 years old:

1. Random Scribbling (15 months to 2½ years)

Children are just figuring out that their movements result in the lines and scribbles they see on the page

2. Controlled Scribbling (2 years to 3 years)

Toddlers may make repeated marks on the page: open circles, diagonal, curved, horizontal, or vertical lines.

3. Lines and Patterns (2½ years to 3½ years)

They try to imitate this in their writing.

4. Pictures of Objects or People (3 years to 5 years)

At this stage, your child also begins to understand the difference between pictures and writing
