❌ Myth: If a child collapses, you should wait for medical professionals.

✅ Fact: Immediate CPR and use of an AED can double or triple survival.

Children need the same rapid response as adults:

📞 Call 911
🫀 Start CPR immediately
⚡ Use an AED as soon as it’s available

AEDs are safe for children. Many devices have pediatric pads or a child setting, but if those aren’t available, standard adult pads can and should still be used.

Why this matters:
Sudden cardiac arrest is not a heart attack. It’s an electrical problem that causes the heart to suddenly stop beating effectively. Without immediate action, brain injury can begin within minutes.

Preparedness saves young lives, too. 💛

Learning CPR and knowing where an AED is located could mean the difference between life and death for a child in your community.

A big thank you to our Alpharetta Police, Fire, 911 Communications, Public Works crews, and City staff who were out in the cold, working odd hours and doing the unglamorous stuff that keeps everyone safe when the weather turns messy. Georgia snow isn’t normal, but showing up for your community is.

And thank you to our residents for staying off the roads, being patient, and using good judgment. That made the job safer for everyone and helped keep this from becoming a bigger headache than it needed to be. This is what neighbors looking out for neighbors looks like.
