I realized today that 5 years ago, I came back to work with my resignation letter in hand and believed there was a high probability I’d never walk back into a classroom.

I’m grateful today for the colleagues who told me one hard year wouldn’t mean they’d all be that hard. I’m grateful for new opportunities to learn, explore outside my comfort zone, and find my happy places.

Sometimes I decompress by scrolling through tweets that make me laugh while I get concerned stares.

Thank goodness tomorrow’s Friday🙌🏻.

I love a good timeline 🤪.

Timelines are a history teacher’s best friend, especially when said history teacher struggled to keep the chronology of events straight in her own mind when she was a high school history student 🙋🏼‍♀️.

My students always have a timeline to fill out when we’re studying specific eras, wars, and other units that rely on chronological knowledge to gain a deeper understanding of relationships between events.

‼️Keeping completed ones around the classroom is helpful to have for quick references too.

These 2 timeline posters guide students from the causes of the war to the surrender at Yorktown with descriptions and significances of each event.

It also only costs $1 for both right now, and you can find the link in my story!

Happy teaching!

I'm so excited (and admittedly terrified) to announce my official Rethinking+More website and online store!

My TeachersPayTeachers store will remain open and active, but I am happy to finally have one website to house all of my work and have more autonomy in managing it all.

Some element of running my own store to house my teaching resources has been in the works for a long time. I've spent the last several years learning how to develop resources and curriculum through much trial, error, research, and feedback. It's been a goal of mine for a while now to branch out on my own, and I'm thankful to my husband for the encouragement and guidance.

The store is still being updated, but this last year's favorites have already been added. It turns out transferring all I've developed over the last several years to a new home is not a quick process😅.

✉️If you sign up for the newsletter, you'll receive updates as I add more resources, announcements, and discounts as I get it all up and running.

Check out stories for links 🖤

This week in pictures:

📷shopping day with my mini-me
📷review jenga and other review…and then more review
📷celebrating taking the USH state test by playing Mario
📷a Sephora sample sticker my daughter put on my purse…I kept it there because it was very representative of my response when students wanted to intentionally annoy me (I ❤️ them)
📷the last one needs no explanation

Happy Friday friends. May your weekend be filled with all the rest you need 💕.

I wanted to capture this so the next time my students make me want to lose my mind, I’ll remember that at one point I’ll sit down to write them encouragement notes before their EOC and get all in my feelings over how proud I am of them.

This kind of pressure on testing sucks for kids and teachers. I’m just really thankful that my students are cool and make it all worth it.

If your kids are preparing for testing (whose aren’t, really), remind them that tests produce numbers, and these numbers are not reflections of them. They’re more than a number. No number can fully represent who they are as students and people, and I think it’s important for them to hear that.

That is all. 3.5 more weeks, people.

🎤WHOAAAA WE’RE HALFWAY THERE🎤

…through EOC prep 🤪.

We’re at that point where our white boards are gross, we wear jeans everyday, and we keep up with a daily countdown. Motivation is dwindling, so activities that keep us awake and on the move are our best friends. Aka stations, and more stations.

These 8 Gilded Age and Progressive Era stations are in my store right now as a bundle, but let me know if you’d like the first 2 for free :).

It’s the kind of where I ate goldfish for dinner and woke up feeling hit by a bus. So instead of pretending I have any profound thoughts to share, here’s what’s keep me laughing and distracted from the long to-do list I have no energy to tackle.

Happy Saturday, friends.

Yes I am as tired as I look because I gave my last final, posted all my grades, and done all the other paperwork. This means, other than some classroom cleanup, my first semester of high school is D O N E.

First semester in a new school and new grade level; first semester in my alma mater district; first semester in special education; first semester living 3 minutes from work 👏🏻

I always thought middle school was my place until this year. I think high school has my heart. 11th is my sweet spot. There have been some major learning curves, but I haven’t woken up 1 morning wishing for a different place to be.

Middle school and my past districts have taught me a lot, and those lessons have proven to be helpful in this new chapter. This has by far been my most easy-going school year, but I’m thankful for the last 5 because I don’t think I would have appreciated this one as much.

❤️❤️
