I have enjoyed getting to know and learning from many footsoldiers from Selma and Marion. This week, I was able to meet with Mr. Tommie Bryant in Marion to learn about his important work running voting drives since the 1960s and well as the preservation of the Gus Mitchell Store. Marion and the many activists and footsoldiers who grew up there remain important to the story in Selma and the Civil Rights Movement overall. As anyone from Marion will tell you, it all started there. - Laura King
