Congratulations to Rose Lopez, Class of 2027! She’s been accepted to of Notre Dame, received a $132,000 scholarship and qualified for direct entry into the Accelerated SMC to the Notre Dame Master of Science in Accountancy program. All the work paid off Big Time!

Make no mistake, in most scenarios, the numbers will continue to drive admissions decisions. However, holistic college application review has gained increased attention in a post-pandemic college admissions world. In a nutshell, with holistic review, admissions officers consider applicants beyond quantitative data.

Without a doubt, assessing students holistically—considering factors such as teacher recommendations, activity lists, honors, essays, and a student’s unique circumstances—is a superior approach to college admissions. However, it is important to understand that a holistic review process will almost never overcome a weak transcript (i.e., course rigor & grades) and, if applicable, test scores.

The college tour continues with Portland State University! The campus is downtown and right next door to the farmers market..and papas y chorizo!

PSU undergraduate enrollment is about 18,000. The top undergraduate programs include: Psychology, Health Studies, Social Science, Marketing, Accounting, Biology, Computer Science, and Management & Leadership.

Oregon residents who qualify for the PSU Transfers Finish Free program receive funding for base tuition and mandatory fees for their enrollment. Oregon high schoolers can apply for the Four Years Free aid program that covers remaining base tuition and mandatory fees after financial aid is applied.
