Say it out loud.

Now say it with your chest. 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

The desires of your heart. . . You deserve them. They've been divinely placed.

It's time to align your energy and your effort with what you want.

This is your season.

“Should we train all teachers to be SPED teachers”?
Teachers are equipped with many skills and are asked to be able to support each child uniquely so let’s consider giving them those skills.

✅As a Previous Preschool Teacher of many years in my last year I had a few students with Special Needs/ Complex Social Emotional Needs who I think could have benefited if I was provided the specialized training in SPED.

✅ALL students have different and varying needs.
what if we started this in the Early / Formative Years (Birth-5)?

✅If we want to TRULY be inclusive is what if the school system offered training for all teachers to be well versed supporting students with Special Needs too?

✅ Should a teachers salary reflect this change as well, how do we compensate them?

💫Let’s explore this and much more see you there!

Why Education Is About To Reach A Crisis Of Epic Proportions 01/07/2022

The pandemic is a gigantic wake-up call for the education sector. TBH our system of schooling has been in crisis for a long while. Now, the glue that's been trying to hold it together is coming undone.

What is your reaction to this take of the education crisis?

Why Education Is About To Reach A Crisis Of Epic Proportions Almost half of teachers are thinking about leaving their jobs. Where does that leave America?

🎶 Do you know what today is???

It's our anniversary!!! 🎶

Don't mind me! I'm just over here reliving the amazing day I married back I'm 2016.

Fun fact - I left my big law firm job 8 months before our wedding date with ZERO clients or a business plan 🤯🙈.

This man rolled with me without batting an eye.

When you are a visionary leader, you HAVE to have a tight circle that has your back. I'm grateful to have my husband to share my ups + downs, to encourage me and to be a critical friend so I continue to meet my potential.

for life!!

Coming in HOT this September.

Let me let you know what you won't do in my presence - infringe on the rights of children who learn or behave differently because of SYSTEMIC failures they did not create.

Our special education system is
B R O K E N.

The resources are not there. The support, training, and professional development are not always there.

And that is a WHOLE PROBLEM that we need to solve.

The solution, however, is NOT TO EXCLUDE students who may require more assistance in less restrictive settings because it is inconvenient to you (or your perception of inconvenience to other students).

Every child can learn and if you are truly committed to teaching the WHOLE CHILD you know that includes hard and soft skills like

✅ tolerance/acceptance
✅ empathy
✅ patience
✅ flexibility
✅ problem-solving
✅ collaboration

Every child (and adult) can benefit from learning + practicing these things. People come in all shapes, sizes, colors, beliefs, and abilities and we can be accepting and accommodating of their differences.

That is the foundation of education justice. If you want a just society you need to MODEL IT IN YOUR CLASSROOM.

Do you agree? Share in the comments.

👀 Look... 👀

This school year is starting out tough.

From the outcry over mask mandates to the hysteria over critical race theory, everyone is on edge (and carrying feelings - which is 1000% normal).

Let's talk about how to build powerful partnerships with families even when it feels like we are at war with each other.

Do you know the four common family engagement styles?

Whether by design or default, your school is operating under one of these paradigms.

Knowing the differences between each can help you
define the most appropriate

🔑mindsets
🔑strategies, and
🔑resources

you need to build the relationships you desire with families and the community.

Which family engagement style matches your school ?

What are you doing with your chance?

Repeat after me: “A woman of vision does not allow what she sees, to stop her from envisioning what is yet to be seen.”

Seriously, read that again.

This school year will not allow us to play small as leaders in education. We have to build the plane while flying it and be unapologetic in our pursuit of education justice.

Who needed to hear this today?
