President's Day is a holiday that occurs the 3rd Monday of every February to celebrate our past and present U.S. Presidents. We celebrate them because of their great contributions to the United States and to our democracy.

Why do we celebrate Valentine's Day:

The Strange but True Story Behind Valentine's Day
Turns out, it was a pretty common name during Late Antiquity. As far as anyone can tell, the Saint Valentine of Valentine's Day was one of two guys preaching the good word in Rome in the third century. One of these two was martyred on February 14th 269, thus giving us the date for his eponymous day.

Though Valentine's Day is often associated with love and romance and is considered to be a day for lovers, it is always not the case. You need not have a partner or a lover to celebrate Valentine's Day. Express your love to your parents, siblings, cousins, friends, colleagues, and even pets, and make the day memorable.

Black History Month 2024 theme is "African Americans and the Arts".

Black History Month was created to focus attention on the contributions of African Americans to the United States. It honors all Black people from all periods of U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century to African Americans living in the United States today.

New Year 1 January: After coming to power, Roman dictator Julius Caesar changed the calendar. In part to honour the month's namesake, Janus, the Roman god of beginnings whose two faces allowed him to look forward into the future as well as backwards into the past, made 1 January the first day of the year..

Christmas is celebrated to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, who Christians believe is the Son of God. The name 'Christmas' comes from the Mass of Christ (or Jesus). A Mass service (which is sometimes called Communion or Eucharist) is where Christians remember that Jesus died for us and then came back to life.

Hanukkah, which means “dedication,” commemorates the miracle of light that occurred when Judah rededicated the Temple to the Hebrew god. According to the Talmud (one of Judaism's holy texts), the Seleucids left only one intact vial of oil, just enough to light the Temple's candelabrum for one day

Parents, food for thought 💬💭..

Amid the fierce battle for our Nation's independence, General George Washington and his troops celebrated Thanksgiving on the way to Valley Forge. During the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed Thanksgiving a national holiday to honor the blessings of our country, even as he fought to preserve our Union.

Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day) is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans of the United States Armed Forces (who were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable).[1][2] It coincides with other holidays including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day which are commemorated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I.[3] Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. At the urging of major U.S. veteran organizations, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.[4]

The Aztecs had a ritual known as Miccaihuitl, which was a time to honor the dead. But when the Spanish arrived to the Americas, they brought Catholicism, which had its own celebrations: All Saints' Day (November 1) and All Souls' Day (November 2), both of which also commemorate those who have passed

Halloween or Hallowe'en is a celebration observed in many countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Saints' Day. It begins the observance of Allhallowtide, the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints, martyrs, and all the faithful departed.
