This is a gut punch to our community. Our friend, Kyle (the beloved face behind the bar at Sotto Sotto, writer, and dedicated AmeriCorps veteran), was critically injured in a motorcycle accident on Sunday (9/28/25).
The tragedy is devastating: Both wrists, one foot, an ankle, and the opposite knee are broken.
This is more than a setback—it’s a complete freeze on his life. Kyle is totally incapacitated; he cannot walk, feed himself, or work for months. He has lost his livelihood and the ability to pursue his creative passions.
Kyle has spent his life as a connector and a giver. He was even organizing an artist show set to open in two weeks. Now, he needs us to be his lifeline.
We are raising a goal of $13,000 (and climbing!) to cover his absolute basics:

This weekend we hit $1000! This is a huge milestone and makes a massive impact on the lives of SM and her son. She's been able to get ride shares to work and keep her best earning shifts, plus buy groceries and necessities while waiting for her paycheck.
She is beside herself with relief and overwhelmed by your generosity. Previously, she hasn't had much faith in people, and you all are changing that, too!
Transportation is still a hurdle but will become easier now that she has the money to buy her own phone (which will happen this week).
Establishing a secure phone with internet access and her own bank account will make everything else moving forward much, much easier.
She is making plans to buy a car, as transportation is the most pressing need now. The more we can raise to assist the better, as she needs to be able to get a dependable car that won't cost her a lot to maintain.
