As the semester ends, the GMNH would like to acknowledge the interns who have returned this semester as paid interns! They have previously completed a full semester for course credit and returned this semester to continue engaging with the GMNH collections. These interns have contributed to the Museum at large by working with various collections over the semester, and have done excellent work!

At the Georgia Museum of Natural History, we prioritize student engagement and participation through many avenues, such as research and internship opportunities! This internship is only one way to be involved with the Museum!

Additionally, the GMNH wants to thank the sponsors that continue to support the Georgia Museum of Natural History’s programs, goals, and missions. Without the support of the Friends of the Georgia Museum and the Parent Leadership Council, internships like these would not be available. Support, big or small, is what allows the Georgia Museum of Natural History to prosper and provide educational programs and resources to the UGA community!

🦅 This month, we are joining EcoReach UGA for the Athens City Nature Challenge! As part of this year's challenge, curators from the museum and the Herbarium are hosting public nature walks at the State Botanical Garden.

🌷On Friday, April 24th from 1-3PM, Dr. Tanisha Williams and Steven Hughes will be leading a Botanist's Walk. They will meet in the Heritage Garden for an iNaturalist tutorial before they walk the Heritage Garden and Flower Garden trails!

🦋 Then, on Sunday the 26th from 1-3PM, Marine Invertebrates Curator Dr. Jim Porter will be leading a butterfly catch and release event, which starts in the visitor center classroom.

The City Nature Challenge is an annual event in which people from all over the world document plants and wildlife in their cities for researchers to better understand urban biodiversity.

We hope to see you at both of these exciting events!
